What is boat management?
Boat management is a professional arrangement between a boat owner and a management/charter company in which the company oversees the vessel’s operation, maintenance, compliance, and administration. This can take two forms:
Private (non-charter) management:
the company handles technical service, seasonal preparation, marina arrangements, insurance, and ongoing upkeep for a privately used boat. The owner retains exclusive use while benefiting from predictable costs and professional oversight.
Charter management:
the company markets the yacht for rent, manages bookings, guest services, and maintenance, and shares charter income with the owner. Placing a yacht into charter management can reduce investment and running costs and/or generate revenue, while the boat remains available to the owner for personal use according to an agreed calendar during the sailing season
